Usborne Books? Ozborne? Osborn? What the Heck are those Books?

July 12, 2018 By Audrey Raetzloff 1 Comment

You know, those awesome children’s books – what the heck are they called? Usborne Books & More has been called many things. I’ve heard Uz-born, Oz-born, Us-born… How do I say it? I say Usborne (us-born) Books & More.

When did Usborne Books Start?

More than 30 years ago, Peter Usborne pioneered a new generation of books that prove that it is possible to create books that compete with the vast media that attracts children today. From activity books, to gripping fiction series, to internet-linked science and history encyclopedias, Usborne does books better. One of the reasons I joined Usborne Books & More as an independent consultant was because my kids were always gravitating toward these books over the 80,000 other ones on our shelves. They truly are the best.

What’s the “& More” Mean?

Many people say that Usborne’s books are for the mind, whereas Kane Miller books are for the heart. In 2008, Kane Miller Publishing became part of the Usborne family and provided numerous titles with heart. I find that the Kane Miller titles tend to be some of my very favorites!

How Do I Buy Them?

Usborne Books & More distributes books through thousands of independent consultants (just like me!) who sell directly to the consumer via home shows, direct sales, book fairs, and web sites. Don’t get me wrong – I love me some Amazon Prime, but there’s something unique and special about supporting another woman through her direct sales business. I buy skincare, clothing items, cleaning products, jewelry, gifts, and more from my fellow direct sales ladies!

Is it a Pyramid Scheme?

Well those are illegal, so no. Usborne Books & More is a direct sales company which means that instead of selling through stores, they sell primarily through independent consultants. By selling through consultants, I feel that customers get a better, more personalized shopping experience. I’ve never made friends with a Target employee, but I am not going out to happy hours with some ladies I’ve met through Usborne! Just like any company, as you increase the size of your team and your sales, you have opportunities for promotions and raises. It would kind of be silly if there wasn’t an incentive to do better, right?

I hope you learned a little some about Usborne Books & More today that you didn’t know before! Speaking of learning, we have books about just about anything you could ever imagine. Check out my bookstore to start learning today!

Best Baby Books from Usborne Books & More

July 11, 2018 By Audrey Raetzloff 1 Comment

One of my good friend recently welcomed her second son! I’m so excited for her family! Of course, this is the perfect excuse to buy some baby books! Mine are 3 and 6 now so I don’t get to buy adorable baby books very often!

Literacy begins at day one! In fact, it can even begin before baby is born by reading to baby in the womb. I’m going to show you some of the best books for new baby!

Best Baby Books from Usborne Books & More

Cloth Books

Our cloth books with rattle attached are filled with bright colors and a handle for baby to hold on to! Perfect for waiting at the doctor’s office, in the cart at the grocery store, or in the high chair! There are a couple titles in this series, shown here is Hello, Baby! Buzz, Buzz.

That’s Not My… Books

If you’ve never “heard” of Usborne Books & More, you’ve probably seen our That’s Not My…books. With about 50 titles in the series, there’s something for everyone! These board books for baby are the perfect size for little hands and feature textures, or mirrors, or shiny surfaces on every page. The black outlines around the pictures create great visibility for baby’s developing eyes. There’s a tiny mouse to find on every page, too. Check out all of our That’s Not My titles.

Little Red Penguin Books

Ok, so I’m going to be honest, these were not on my radar for a while, but after seeing them, I’m in love! The illustrations are bright and the pictures are so fun! Learn a variety of topics like colors, numbers, shapes, and words. You can purchase them separately, or save money by buying the Little Red Penguin Collection.

Colorful World

This baby books series is fairly new and I can’t get enough of it. In fact, they just added two more titles to the collection. The illustrations and colors are unique and charming. I need them all for myself. Which one of the Colorful World books is your favorite?

Tummy Time Books

You guys, why did these not exist when my kids were babies? And if they did, why did nobody tell me??? Baby books have come a long way! These hard-cover books fold out into an accordion and are a life-saver for tummy time. The high-contrast black-and-white images in our Tummy Time books are perfect for baby. This is a must-have baby shower gift!

Slide and See Books

Is your kiddo rough on books? Is their goal in life to seek and destroy? No? Just my kids? Well anyway, these slide and see books are great because they have panels that baby can slide to revel hidden pictures. Similar concept to flaps, without the possibility of them being ripped off. I love the new Slide and See Nightime book. Which one is your favorite?

Kids Rough on Books?

Hey, while we’re talking about destructive kids, did you know we have a 50% replacement policy? If your book gets damaged, we’re happy to replace it for half off. Contact me for more details.

Do you have a baby shower coming up soon? I’d love to help you find the perfect gift; contact me today and I’ll put together a wish list just for you! Better yet, snag a book instead of a card.
