Rakuten, formerly known as ebates, is cash-back website that rewards you for shopping at the same places you’re probably already shopping online. Get cash back at stores like Old Navy, Amazon, Children’s Place, Rothys, Walmart, and hundreds more by simply clicking a link.
I’ve been using Rakuten (formerly ebates) since 2011 and I have earned a whopping $437 in cash back for doing my normal online shopping! I could have probably earned even more if I had been installed the cash back button!
How to Use Rakuten
Next time you’re shopping online (something you’re probably already doing on the regular), you need to check Rakuten to see if the place you’re shopping has any cash back opportunities.
Two Ways to Use Rakuten
The first way to use Rakuten is easy, but not as easy as it could be. Here’s how it typically goes when I use Rakuten. I go about my normal shopping adding items to my cart. I remember to check Rakuten after I’ve already added items to my cart! Gah! Have no fear, just log in to your Rakuten account, find the store where you’re shopping, click the bottom to shop now, and all of the items you added to your cart from the previous browser window should appear there — this time with cash back!
The second, and easiest way to use Rakuten is to install the cash back button for your browser! Rakuten has provided some great instructions for how to install the Rakuten plugin for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari.
When you install the button, a small R icon appears on your toolbar, when you’re on a website, you just click that, and it’ll tell you if there are any deals available! Here’s an example from Old Navy.
Tips for Earning Big with Rakuten
Double Cash Back Stores
The average cash back percentage in my experience is about 1%-8% which can definitely add up over time, but if you want to earn big, check out the Double Cash Back Stores list. This list changes often, so if you don’t see something today, check back tomorrow. Today’s list includes Amazon.com, Walgreens, Vistaprint, Groupon, Shop Disney, Zulily, and more! As we get closer to the holidays, I check Ratuken often to see where I can get the best deal.
Buy One, Get One Free (BOGO) Deals
Who doesn’t love a good BOGO? I know I do! One for me, one for you…or two for me. Ha. Check Rakuten.com and see if you could benefit from any buy one, get one free deals. Today, I see Express has a sale on men’s jeans. You know I love to read — Barnes & Noble is offering a buy 2 paperbacks get the 3rd for free! These are just a couple of examples. There are tons of great offers that change all the time.
Earn Cash Back for Shopping In Store
If you absolutely must put on pants and shop at an actual store, you can get in-store cash back at many stores, too! Rakuten wants to reward you for shopping in real clothes, apparently.
Share Ratuken with Friends and Earn Cash Back
Spread the word about Rakuten and earn $25 each time a friend signs up using your referral link! PLUS, they’ll get $10, too after they shop! I’ve been using Rakuten (formerly ebates) since 2011 and I can 100% tell you that there is no catch. You use the link or cash back button to shop, and they send you a PayPal deposit or a paper check in the mail. It’s really that easy.
Do You Like a Good Deal as Much as I Do?
Maybe it’s because I grew up in the Midwest, but getting a good deal is one of the best things ever! I’ve recently fallen in love with the uber comfortable, sustainable flat called Rothys! Have you heard of them yet? Here’s where you can learn more about Rothys and here’s two ways to save on Rothys! Psst…one of them is with Rakuten!
I’d love to hear how you have earned cash back with Rakuten! Share in the comments below. Thanks for reading and don’t forget to come hang out with me on Instagram!
